ACCT Reference Form

ACCT requires the following for Registered Therapeutic Counsellors:

  • Provide two professional references or letters of recommendation. This may include a professional whom you have known for at least 1 year as a supervisor in a training or educational capacity, paid or unpaid counselling or related experience, or other that is recognized by ACCT Membership Services. One of your references should be a mental health professional, who has at least 5 years experience in their profession.

ACCT requires the following for Master Therapeutic Counsellors:

  • Provide a reference or letter of recommendation: from a mental health professional that has known you professionally for at least five years.

There are several ways to submit your references and they are as follows:

1.  By scanning and including a written reference letter with your ACCT application.

2.  Sending your request for a reference by email to your referee:

Copy and paste the following address into an email to the person you are requesting a reference from. They can fill out this reference form online and submit it with a keystroke. There's no need for them to print out or scan/photograph the form.

3.  Alternatively, you can scan your reference and can upload it, separately from your application, using the File Upload section in the form below.

All information does need to be uploaded and sent to ACCT (rather than emailing) so that your information is uploaded safely into our database.

Referee's Contact Information

One of the applicant's referees must be a mental health professional with at least 5 years experience in their profession.

Both of the applicant's referees must have known the applicant for at least 1 year.

Referees must not be related to the applicant. 

All reference letters must be signed and include the date and contact info for the referee.
