ACCT's Volunteer Opportunities

AGM Committee - Work as a member of the AGM Committee to produce the AGM and Conference which comprises of a social event, professional development sessions, and the details regarding the preparation and running of ACCT's annual general meeting of shareholders.

Contemplation Committee - Members with a minimum of 5 yrs experience with ACCT, or 5 years with another professional counselling association, please join this committee to offer your wisdom or insight around progressive topics that come to the Board.

Insurance Liaison Team - This position assists members in liaising with insurance companies for specific claims. There will be some research and some "on-call" work required, as members request assistance. It will also involve assisting the Executive Directors with advocating on behalf of members with the insurance companies to allow ACCT counsellors to be covered under their programs.

Membership Committee - Assist in the process of accepting new members by reviewing applications, including educational background and relevant work experience. Volunteers on this team help assess whether applicants meet the required criteria for membership.

Mentorship Team - Assist in coordinating the ACCT Mentorship Program. Primary responsibility will be to follow up with existing mentors and mentees to ensure the program is running smoothly and initial contact with new mentor/mentee pairings.  More information on the ACCT Mentorship Program can be found here.

Neurodivergence Advisory Team (NDAT) - Assist in ACCT increasing our inclusive and accessible communication practices as well as neuro-affirming approaches within our member's counselling practices.

Professional Development Team Source, organize, prepare and possibly host professional development workshops for ACCT Members.

Supervisor Committee - All ACCT Supervisors are encouraged to participation in this committee as we improve Supervision criteria, so that ACCT holds the highest possible standards for our members.

Training and Education Standards Committee (TESC) - Review training centers and courses, both for membership and Cont Ed Professional Development, in order to best prepare ACCT members for regulatory requirements through targeted, high‑quality training.
